Valentine's Gift Guide for the Significant Foodie in Your Life
Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I don’t know about you, but around this time is when I am typically scrambling to confirm our plans. Life gets busy with work and commitments and I often find myself thinking about holiday options at the very last minute. I am not one that believes in only celebrating love on February 14th, love should be celebrated and appreciated every day. I am, however, a sucker for a celebration, and I love any and every opportunity to plan something special. I am also a perfectionist at heart and this never combines well with my procrastination habits, but every once in awhile I will stumble upon something that satisfies both. This week we are listing out some gifting options that not only provide meaningful gifts for the foodie significant other in your life, but many can work at the very last minute. Check out our top 5 recommendations below and let us know what you think!
1. Newest Cooking Gadget
Thank the Lord for Amazon and Prime shipping for last minute purchases. I can’t tell you how many times Amazon has saved me by providing exactly what I wanted, conveniently delivered the item to my door within two business days. Almost like magic :)
For the significant foodie in your life that likes to cook, consider getting them an Air Fryer like these that seems to be all the rage right now, or upgrade their standing mixer. I have a friend that loves making homemade beef jerky in her dehydrator like these ones, or consider a sous vide for endless fun. The options are limitless with Amazon only a click away.
2. Cookbooks/Chef Memoirs
If the foodie in your life has all the gadgets they can imagine as it is, consider a new cookbook or a Chef/Foodie Memoir to inspire them. There are several that have been immensely popular over the past few years that are worth checking out. I feel like I devour cookbooks like novels and when it comes to memoirs, you know how I feel about recipes and stories.
Here are a few popular options to consider:
From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home - Tembi Locke
Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering - Joanna Gaines
Salt, Fat, Acid Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking - Samin Nosrat
Cook Like A Pro: Recipes and Tips for Home Cooks - Ina Garten
3. Foodie Subscription Boxes
This one works especially well for something meaningful at the last minute and it continues to keep giving! Subscription boxes in general are becoming more and more popular and you can’t go wrong with these great foodie options.
Turntable Kitchen: This option is especially perfect if your significant Foodie loves cooking and music. Turntable Kitchen will send you a set of beautifully curated recipes and a vinyl record to pair. They will include one of the ingredients that is perhaps a bit more rare to source and as well as an additional playlist of music. Check out their pricing and subscription options here.
Raw Spice Bar: This is perfect for the Foodie in your life that wants fresh, unique spices in their kitchen or with a spice cupboard that needs an upgrade. Check out their options here!
Try The World: When I first heard about this one it especially interested me. Try The World will send specially curated boxes with international items such as snacks, drinks, ingredients, etc. It’s a fun way to experience the world from the comfort of your own kitchen! Check out their options here.
Winc Wine Club: Wine Clubs are becoming more and more popular, what could be better than wine delivered straight to your door? Check out Winc’s options here.
Meal Planning Subscription Boxes: I love this option for the aspiring foodie that is limited on time. Consider a meal planning subscription box like Blue Apron or Hello Fresh for the significant other that wants to cook more often with the convenience of already prepped ingredients and easy to use recipes.
4. Foodie Experiences:
In recent years, I have made an effort to give more experiences to loved one instead of things, because who doesn’t want to create more memories instead of accumulating stuff? Groupon Getaways is a quick and easy way to find fun experiences (also good for last minute options). Here are a few suggestions to consider or inspire you:
Winery Tours/Brewery Tours in your area
Cooking Classes from your local Central Market, Whole Foods, or preferred grocery store
Specialty classes for making Truffles or Macaroons from a Boutique Bakery or Shop in your area
Charcuterie Board making class from a craft store or boutique. Afterwards, have fun compiling the charcuterie/cheese together
Membership to a dinner club
5. Sentimental/Personalized Gifts:
If time allows, these are some great options to order/make for your significant other that are sentimental and fun.
Get this personalized cutting board from Etsy with the engraving of a loved one’s favorite recipe. I especially love that you can send a recipe in the handwriting of a loved one to be featured on your board. Perfect to commemorate recipes from loved ones that may no longer be with us or may live far away.
Personalized Recipe Cards: When my sister got married, I found a recipe card design that matched her wedding colors and purchased through Etsy. I then had the cards printed and sent to all the cooks in our family to write out their favorite recipes for the newlyweds. Even if time doesn’t allow for the cards to be sent out to loved ones, a personalized recipe card for your significant other’s use can be a nice option.
Paint wooden spoons in their favorite colors using this tutorial from Bonnie Christine.
Get their favorite wine engraved with a valentine’s message at a grocery store that offers this service like Market Street.
I hope this guide helps you to think of the perfect gift for the significant foodie in your life! The options are truly endless. Let us know what you like best from this post in the comments below and enjoy your celebration!
